INVITATION

This is a formal invitation to all you witches and wizards to be with us in full costume for a solemn mortuary ritual.

  • Dancing on the grave of finance capitalism
  • Hallowe'en, 31 Oct 08 17:00 - midnight
  • Bring magic wands. Ceremony starts on first appearance of new moon.

LOCATION

We're going to be tearing it up (in a strictly metaphorical sense, dance-wise, so to speak) on the pavement in front of the Europe and Middle East Headquarters of the biggest Finance Capital domino to fall so far in the Great Capitalists' Credit Crunch of 2008 – Lehman Brothers. Located dead centre in the fibrillating heart of the Evil Empire, only a stone's throw from Canary Wharf tube and DLR stations, few venues could better serve to celebrate the Renaissance of Anti-Capitalism and the Death of the Albatross* of Capitalism that has hung around humanity's neck for way too long.

Venue

On the pavement outside:
Lehman Brothers, Europe and Middle East Headquarters, 25 Bank Street, Canary Wharf, London E14 5LE

* Death of the Albatross of Capitalism – only in "The Rime of the Ancyent Marinere"-type metaphor stylee. Our real brother and sister albatrosses are being decimated by the rapacious exploitation of our oceans by Fishheries Capital.
Of the 21 albatross species recognised by IUCN on their Red List, two are considered critically endangered, 17 are threatened, and the other two are near threatened by commercial long-line fishing, as the albatrosses are attracted to the set bait, then become hooked on the lines and drown: an estimated 100,000 albatross per year are killed in this fashion; you could get involved with halting this atrocity with the good folks at Save The Albatross.

I love this page, especially the top bit, but albatross is funny too...
can we somehow incorporate a 'bunny-approved 'child friendly stamp??? Maybe that should go at the bottom in lace of our feathered friends?
